Take your first steps towards becoming a certified MAUNI peer recovery specialist

This introductory course is designed to equip those who aim to work within addiction recovery or within communities impacted by addiction, and those who aim to provide specialised support and guidance to individuals recovering from addiction and related challenges.

Participants will learn how to become effective coaches and develop the necessary skills and knowledge to provide personalised coaching and support to clients, helping them navigate the challenges of addiction and achieve their goals.

Participants will learn about the role of a coach, the principles of coaching, and the different types of coaching services; the importance of regular supervision and training sessions to maintain professional skills and knowledge in coaching and recovery building, within an addiction and community setting.

Challenges faced by current addiction recovery programs (e.g. the 12-step model)
Client assessment techniques to develop personalised recovery plans
Evidence-based coaching techniques for one-on-one support
Group coaching strategies to build strong support networks
Collaboration with broader recovery teams, mental health professionals, and support services
Monitoring client progress and adjusting plans as needed
How to contract and maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress
Professional development

This course will be delivered through a combination of online and live-streaming training sessions, as well as practical field experience.

Participants will be required to complete assignments to demonstrate their understanding of the course content. Upon completion of this course, participants will have the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective Peer Recovery Specialists and provide personalised coaching and support to clients within the addiction and communities setting who are building resilience and overcoming addiction-related challenges.

They will be able to work with clients on a one-on-one basis, as well as in group settings, to help them achieve their recovery goals.
